Driving Group eCall

The Driving Group on eCall is one of the Working Groups established by the European Commission under the eSafety Forum. eSafety is a joint industry/public initiative for improving road safety by using new Information and Communications Technologies. The overall objective is to join forces and build up a European strategy to accelerate the research and development, as well as deployment and use of Intelligent Integrated Safety Systems including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for increasing road safety in Europe.

Discussions related to eCall deployment were carried out in the eSafety Forum Driving Group on eCall, which was co-chaired by ERTICO-ITS Europe and ACEA. Members represented all the different sectors involved in eCall implementation. The eCall Driving Group has finalised its activities with the release of the "Recommendations of the DG eCall for the introduction of the pan-European eCall"

Recommendations of the DG eCall for the introduction of the pan-European eCall

During the 7 July 2005 eCall Driving Group meeting, different sub-working groups were created with the objective of identifying or solving some of the concrete issues the different industries or organisations have related to eCall implementation.

The positioning papers from the different sub-working groups have been the basis for the recommendations from the DG eCall for the introduction of the pan-European eCall, which has now been finalised. In the table below you will find the recommendations and all the different papers plus related material in form of appendixes to the recommendations from the DG eCall.
