Malta The single pan-European emergency number 112 is operational in Malta but it is not the only emergency number in use. It co-exists with 191 for police, 196 for ambulance and 199 for fire/rescue. There is one PSAP at level 1 organised nationally and six PSAPs at level 2 organised nationally and regionally in Malta.
As the system overview illustrates below, Malta is currently capable of receiving and handling E112 calls. The network pushes the location information to the PSAP level 1, where it is mainly used to route the call to the appropriate level 2 PSAP that sets up a voice connection with the emergency service vehicle.
