Basyc Motorcyclist Protection System (MPS)

Motorcycle crashes are the leading source of fatalities in guardrail crashes. In these type of accidents, the barriers act like blades, where helmet and security accessories are not enough to avoid this risk. Because of this, there is a critical need for the development of improved barrier designs, to protect motorcyclists in collisions with guardrails.

Cegasa International introduces a Motorcyclists Protection System called BASYC, a containment mesh. Its characteristics allow to control and absorb the impact against safety barriers.

The Cegasa’s Basyc MPS is a continuous protection system. This avoids the impact of the motorcyclist against the post, as to exceed the protection barrier. Basyc is a non-rigid impact absorption mechanism, based on controlled elasticity to avoid severe impacts.

The system reduces progressively the elasticity as the impact is closer to the post, to avoid impacting against it. In the vain zones, it allows an extremely smooth braking of the motorcyclist. Thanks to the reception of the geotextile fabric, the rider is redirected in the same direction, avoiding the bounce effect.

Basyc is certified with the highest safety level (according to UNE-135900 and EN-1317).
