PEIT

The major goal of PEIT was to substantially improve overall traffic safety and traffic efficiency for heavy goods vehicles by the integration of intelligent technologies into the powertrain. This was expected to be achieved by integrating steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire and road tyre friction measurement subsystems as well as electrical energy management into the powertrain using a systems engineering approach. As an additional benefit, the intelligent powertrain would not only contribute to safety but also result in increased traffic efficiency and driving comfort.
